Boring Wood game
Not the best game I have seen, 120+ minutes of dire, wrestling, grabbing, kicking, Etc., but the result was all important :)
Shaun Whalley was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch, not too many other performances to talk of. Aaron made a difference when he came on and I hope he can stay fit now until May :) :) :) |
Re: Boring Wood game
Its the result that matters in the FA Cup and BW have a good track record in doing really well in this competition. We will need to raise our game somewhat when our next opponents arrive in town on Saturday.

Re: Boring Wood game
Dire was right, Val, but it was appropriate, if not inevitable, that Stanley won with a penalty.
BW seemed intent simply to out-muscle their opponents which, given the average weight of either team, was fairly easy, particularly with a ref who was immune to flagrant pushing and pulling. The few instances when they did try to play football in extra time (after Sousa came on) they did well, but maybe rugby league would be a better game for BW? Maybe that was why Stanley, yet again, started with 3 defenders and 7 midfielders rather than give one (or two ) of Stanley’s lightweight young strikers a start? Having said that, I think Stanley’s defence did well to keep a clean sheet and Savin made some good catches (although his kicking was wayward). Just hope Notts early retirement has not set his recovery back again. Great that the club started selling tickets after the match too so those who took the trouble to turn up last night had first dibs on watching the Leeds game. |
