Stats don’t say they spent most of that possession passing backwards and sideways to each other and the goalkeeper in their own half. The biggest threats from MK came from good old fashioned through balls.
But Stanley did really well to bag the points today. Good performances in most areas, some very good, against (yet another) bigger, physically stronger team. Midfield of Martin, Pritchard and Leigh started to gain the upper hand into the second half as they began to ‘read’ MK’s game and managed to intercept the fast, intricate passing. Difficult choice for MotM but pleased for Dan Martin.
