Cheap and cheerful accommodation in Accy?

Planning on coming up to give Stanley a cheer. Grateful for anyone who can recommend any accommodation at the cheaper end of the market please. Many thanks!

Depends on what you want but I believe Pilkington's B & B near the train station is cheap & cheerful, not many frills but clean, reasonably priced & I've been told they do a damn good breakfast.

I've known people who used to stay at Norwood Guest House. Dunno if it's still open and doubt it would be the cheapest but it was supposed to be decent and was a good location directly next to the ground/pub.

Re: Cheap and cheerful accommodation in Accy?

Accrington is woefully short of decent cheap and cheerful accomodation, I'll not get in to the politics of that

If you want the well known brands then it's Burnley or Blackburn.

Norwood Guest house.
It looks like it is still operating, but you cannot get on their own web site....it is widely publicised on many of the travel booking companies though.
Here to help is the telephone number 01254 398132.
It looks very nice inside and has some favourable reviews.

If you want to spend a bit more - has a gym, a pool etc and is used by away teams sometimes when visiting Blackburn Rovers.

Around 10 min walk to the ground or 5 minute drive.

£20 gets you camping rights at t'bottom of my garden. Probs about about a 20 minute stroll to the ground but I'd be happy to chip in fer a taxi

I take it that's the Dunkenhalgh. You must walk at some speed if it only takes 10 mins

Re: Cheap and cheerful accommodation in Accy?

I would probably go to the Premier Inn Blackburn town centre if you are planning to have a drink and don't want to rely on taxis. I have a few tales from visitors about some places.

If you are coming via train maybe Preston town centre hotels are just as good if on the way.

When I worked at the 'Dunk' over 50 yrs ago, it was never described as 'cheap and cheerful' and, to best of my knowledge, cannot be deemed to be nowadays!

It depends what offers are on and if you are a member of the loyalty programme and have points. I've not stayed there for a while but last time it was about £20 for the night with my various discounts

Duncan, at £20 in the Dunk that was either twenty years ago or you got discount being the owner.

Or you use Accor hotels a lot and you have plenty of points. If I hadn't used nearly all my points on the last trip to glasgow I would have 80 euros worth against £67 to stay on saturday after the Barnet game so it would probably have cost me a fiver
