Put your specs on cashy and katex, the outside rails are straight, top and bottom are straight, but how can the middle be straight if it is in the top of one rail and the bottom of the other but be straight. lol Have to admit though, I thought at first it was panther gone wierd..er!!

It is a three dimensional optical illusion which only works if viewed from a specific angle.

I've coloured in two parts to try to illustrate my explanation.

What you see as one continuous bar going through from top left to bottom right is not one piece. The part which I have blocked out in blue is attached to the right hand upright near the bottom. The other part which I have blocked out in brown is attached to the left hand upright near the top.

The whole model is then viewed from different angles and photographed when the brown piece looks to be in alignement with the blue piece.

It just needs a bit of lateral thinking. The brown bit is in an entirely different plane to the blue bit. If you ever saw one in 3D being moved you'd immediately twig.

Have you ever seen those Egyptian Pharoah heads which look convex when they are really concave? It's just your eyes seeing what they expect to see rather than what is really there.
