SCREEN SHOT COMPETITION

Well not exactly a photo competition but there is a 4gig flash drive up for grabs or any other of the prizes you fancy:D
just take a screen shot of your desktop and upload it
This competition is open for 1 month so you have plenty of time to learn how to do this :D
you can upload up to 6 shots

uploads close on the 27th of Feb at 10pm and voting will close on the 2st March at 10pm ish

The usual rules apply:
it must be your own pc screen shot nothing off the net etc

if you look at your keyboard on most there is a button that says "Prt Scr"
this is a print screen button go to your desktop(after sorting the mess out):D press this button then open "word"or "Paint" right click in word and paste save and upload this to the gallery there is a link below

I just have shortcuts on a boring grey background, so haven't entered.
This is a strange comp - it feels like a request to view the contents of my handbag :)

I would have a go but having a Spanish keyboard I can't quite work out which is the 'print screen' button!

I'll work on it and then bore you all with my pathetic effort.

I have tried to do this but my efforts are not recognised when i try to upload them, so I must be doing something wrong....so i have decided to give this one a miss.
My screen is pretty boring anyway...and my desktop is littered with rubbish.

Well it did say that my image had uploaded, but I can't see it in the gallery......well not in the special competition anyway.

me too, i've done it 3 times now and 3 times it has said that the pic has uploaded succesfully...............BUT IT HASNT GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!!!!

Did do something similar before ... not sure if any extra information in this.

I could never see the point in having a desktop picture - 'serves no useful purpose'

Remember all those desktop themes you tried when you got your 1st PC
There were jungle themes with monkeys swinging off the cursor
Does anyone (in their right mind) still use them?

PS so my personality is a grey blank page

I can't do this either, can get it into word, but not sure what to do after that ? Do I put it in another file? as can't find it when I browse. I did put it into 'My Pictures', and think it was uploading, took ages and said send was successful, but not there !

Not even sure was loading the correct thing anyway :confused:

Well I'm gonna have a go at this. I was able to take a screen shot of my last five desktop images as I only use photo's I've taken. Usually change once a month on average.

Well, you did it CP !! lovely they are too ... like 'erindoors .. LOL.

Tried allsorts, and now not acceptable format .. have reduced in Paint Shop Pro and put in 'My Pictures' .. still no luck ... :(

It was easy Katex. Can't understand why you can't do it.
Is your prt scr button in a box?? If so, when you use the prt scr button you have to press the fn button at the same time. The fn button is bottom left next to the ctrl key.
It is easy in Paint. After doing fn / prt scr (*at the same time) , Just open Paint and do ctrl / v * and it will appear. Go to Save As and save as whatever title the pic is to be called. Then upload to your hearts content!! :D

Well, did all that but won't load.... they are photographs my brother did and put them in my desktop choices. They are in PSP ... presume this is not acceptable ... so what can I do now ?

Yippee !!! Managed to sort out how to change to JPEG .. and has worked :Banane23:

Will get on with the rest ... now got a headache (no comments please). Will grab a pill.

I've done all that too and though it tells me that my pic has uploaded successfully, there is nothing in the gallery to prove it........I have given up trying now.

I know just how you are feeling Margaret .. have now got large glass of wine.
Believe me, I am a numpty !

Decreased the size first in Paint Shop pro (although may not have been necessary) .. and changed to JPEG (if not already) which I discovered you have to go to File, drop down to Editor >>> hit the JPEG, change to size by hitting that little button on the left between the two images and then put it in the file you use ... like 'My pictures' and upload as you normally do.
Mind you, put one in Members Gallery by mistake ... :rolleyes:

Thank you Katex. This has been bugging me all week and I was determined to get a pic there. It has taken me ages as I had to download a Paint Shop trial first but as soon as I had that it was easy.

Nothing earth shattering but a good learning curve.

well mine is now on, tried fer hours to do it, but being totally stupid wi computers failed miserably, so mick popped round n sorted fer me. cheers mick.:) just had a look, its miles better on my desktop, colours aint as good on here.

well, at long last I have managed to do this.....not without some head scratching and muttered oaths.......I followed Micks instructions and one of my screenshots loaded without too much hassle......the other one I had to mess about with.
I actually have a couple more, but I can't figure out what I did to upload the one that took a lot of messing with, so I will leave it for now and perhaps come back and try again to upload the other two.
