People ride bikes all over and if you let a toddler loose in an area where people are riding bikes then you too are as much to blame. As has been mentioned, off road bikes aren't exactly the quietest of things and IMHO 99% of riders are considerate to those around them.

Actually you can't. the whole point of an exhaust is that it is a tuned pipe that creates a negative pressure just outside the exhaust valve of the engine to suck the burnt fuel vapours out. as such it is effectively a musical instrument. Also as the volume of gas is quite high it needs to get rid of it as quick as possible, any 'restriction' such as noise reduction slows down the gases and robs the engine of power as the piston now has to push the gases out. So loud 'usually'[1] equals power. Listen to an F1 car and you will get an idea

[1] Usually means a properly tuned pipe the full length of the exhaust, not just a dustbin shoved on the back of a 2" exhaust normally found on Novas, Imprezas, etc.

I disagree with your statement entwisie, I have spent most of my life in the countryside and have had a couple of narrow escapes walking along bridleways and forest paths due to inconsiderate and under-age idiots thinking they are Barry Sheene!

Sensible off-road bikers go to venues especially made to challenge their proficiency and where they are most in danger from hitting the occasional rabbit! I fear that there are considerably more than 1% off-roaders that go barrelling down the pavement to reach the nearest field - - or one of the favourite venues, the canal tow path. Are you suggesting that families should be banned from footpaths to make way for morons?

- - - only the other day, two idiots on a mini-moke leapt off the pavement in front of me in Atlas Street, Clayton, No crash helmets, completely oblivious to the fact that I was driving a 40ft. coach weighing close to 10 ton, they were a second away from losing their lives, Is that the 1% you are talking about? If it is, they certainly get around

See I said bikes were dangerous, especially when you are riding them in places where you shouldn't be. (It is a very stupid thing to do though, I hope they caught the culprit)
