Moorhead = Accrington Academy
I got the confirmation letter through this morning to let me know that Moorhead HAS got approval to open the school up as Accrington Academy in September 2008.

My son starts there is September.

They say they will be maintaining their specialism in Sports and will also become a center of excellence for Mathematics and state of the art ICT facilities.

It will also become a sixth form as of September 2009.

I wonder why Moorhead have been permitted to have a sixth form when not too long ago, St Christopher's revealed plans to open a sixth form and there was a lot of opposition and it didn't happen?

If it's an Academy then it's privately owned/run (not 100% sure of details) and they can do what they want but if it was still a state school then other local schools can object and make a fuss.

Maybe it will be the best behaved school in town if they can do what they want.... bring back the cane

Wonder when the new uniform will be in shops??

I want to start getting a few bits and bobs before September, it's all very expensive to do in one go.

Yeah as a pupil (currently in yr 11). Major changes set for Moorhead. Nothing has been confirmed as of uniform as far as we know. Pritty gutted that i have just missed out on these exciting times. One of the last pupils to leave Accrington Moorhead High School
