A work mate of mine was the landlord of the Station Inn, name of John O'Donnell, he hung his self behind the front door when he found out his wife was cheating on him.
We worked together at both Batty Holt tours and Gilbraith Tankers.
That was until about 1970 when he ended it all.

can't remember the landlords name when i went in, was mid 60s i think, seem to remember they won the league that year.

Hi Gremlin that was a long time ago 1970, when I was still a nipper.
Perhaps it's in the phone book from that time, do they still have them in the reference library? That shop was there just as sure as the Bees Knees was!

i can remember a music shop before the bridge on the left hand side, had a banjo in the window, and either over the front door or very nearby was a stone lion.

Yep that's the one - half was a music shop and then across a passageway he had a jewellry section. Don't remember the lion - that must have been some kind of Jewish symbol!
