When you buy a roll of greaseproof paper, are both sides greaseproof ?
One side appears shinier than the other so if only one side is greaseproof, which is it ?

From my vast experience of cooking - shiny side definitely.
Oh, who am I kidding - haven't got a clue!

Re: Todays Daft Question - Greaseproof Paper
On the rare occasion that I do bake, I use shiny side to the food. Makes excellent tracing paper.

I always use that shiny side on the outside
Thanks for all ther replies, I guess it's unanimous that the more greaseproof side is the shiny side.
And just to confuse you all I don't use it for cooking or tracing

Re: Todays Daft Question - Greaseproof Paper
Shiney side to the tin...stops it sticking...you are expected to fight the paper when you seperate it from the Quatermass Experience.

Re: Todays Daft Question - Greaseproof Paper
Why not fold it so you have a shiney side on the cake and the tin.
