Re: decaf coffee
I admit to being a coffee addict. I can't see the point of taking the caffeine out of coffee.
I have 3 gadjets for brewing from ground coffee (expresso, mocha and cafetiere) and have 2 varieties of instant coffee for when I can't wait to get a caffeine fix.
My blood pressure is normal - it is not wise to drink as much as I do if you have high blood pressure.
I also drink ordinary tea and herbal/fruit teas. I am one of those people who is forever brewing up.
I don't drink any 'soft drinks' (make my own juices from fruit).

Re: decaf coffee
I found out this about Splenda-
Energy (caloric) content
Though marketed in the U.S. as a “No calorie sweetener,” Splenda actually contains slightly more calories than the same mass of sugar (391 kcal per 100 g vs 390 kcal per 100 g for white granulated sugar).[5] When sucralose is added directly to commercial products, the filler is omitted and no calories are added.
Note too that although the “nutritional facts” label on Splenda’s retail packaging state that a single serving of 1 gram (1 teaspoon or 5 milliliters) contains zero calories, Splenda actually contains two calories per teaspoon.[6] Such labeling is appropriate in the U.S. because the FDA’s regulations permit a product to be labeled as “zero calories” if the “food contains less than 5 calories per reference amount customarily consumed and per labeled serving.”[7] Because Splenda contains a relatively small amount of sucralose, little of which is metabolized, virtually all of Splenda’s caloric content derives from the highly fluffed dextrose or maltodextrin filler, or carrier, that gives Splenda its volume. Like other carbohydrates, dextrose and maltodextrin have 4 calories per gram.

It has more calories than sugar so why use it?

It might have more for the same mass but it's mass for sweetness is much less. 1 teaspoon of sugar is 5g, one teaspoon of splenda is less than 1g so its still less calories. Also i tend to use the tiny tablets rather than granulated as the carb content is less.
