Re: Laptops in Hospitals
At Melbourne House I had to arrange a 'portable appliance check' every three months.
Some people sneaked in their own kettles.
When discovered, they were pleasantly surprised to find that I could supply them with an official one with a table for its safe use.
We didn't provide posh coffee machines like the LCC do.

Re: Laptops in Hospitals
when i wa sin hospital i had to have my xbox tested by their electritan but that was a good few years ago but i had a friend in hospital just last week and he had his mobile phone charger and laptop plugged in with no checks and no questions asked.
i personaly wuoldnt take it in anyway because of teh theiving scum that visit other people and besides you can get internet and tv for £3.00 for 12 hours or £10 for 3 days i think it was on tehir tvs that hang over your bed plus unlimited local calls to landline numbers
the internet was pretty good for what it was but you can only have 1 page open at a time and the keybaord folds out of teh tv remote.
uinlimited local calls apply to all 3 packages , i only mentioned two of them but there wa sa 2 day plan as well but i cant remember teh price

Re: Laptops in Hospitals
The best thing to do is phone the ward and ask.
My bet is that they will not be too keen for you to have your laptop with you.
a) it has got to be pat tested before you can plug it into their mains supply.
b) it is an item of value, for which they will be responsible while you are in theatre/asleep/anaesthetised.
Do you really need to take it?

On mine maybe, it will do 5 hours before it wants charging. Rhonda tried it when she was not very well one day. She went to bed ill and used it on wireless and full screen brightness for 5 hours before it wanted plugging in.
That must have been after she cooked her own by sitting it on the bed and blocking the vent holes
Most normal laptops struggle to do 2 hours before they die.
