Duncan Square, Ossie

I think I know why Duncan Square is so named, but want to seek the opinion of others before posting about it on the Street Names thread. When did the name first crop up? Is it shown on early maps - what's the earliest? I suspect it will be early 1800s
I cannot find my History of Ossie & Church books by Hogg. Any mention in them?

Re: Duncan Square, Ossie

An Accyweb post by Jellybaby from 1st December 2004 entitled "Pubs in Oswaldtwistle" states "Duncan Square, properties built by the Peel family to house their workers. (Named after Admiral Duncan, a colleague of Nelson's) Later known as The Green when property cleared."
