Re: Eeeekkkkkk!!
When I lived in Church my cat used to deliver them to me quite regularly.

The rise in rat populations is blamed on careless disposal of food waste

Re: Eeeekkkkkk!!
If you dont like rats then dont consider living in Spring Hill - lots of cats up here but, believe me, the rats dont care. Problem has been much worse since this two weekly bin collection started

i often pass through spring hill and i have to say I have never seen one...thank god!!, rats come where people leave food for them, cleaner back yards would be better...the amount of **** iv seen in peoples back yards, its disgusting, i would hate to think what their house looks like , and as for fortnightly bins, i have no problem with that

Re: Eeeekkkkkk!!
After dark, in the middle of Hyde Park Corner in London, there used to come out a pack of rats as big as cats.
I thought of buying a set of pipes to play, to lure them the twenty five feet into the garden of Buckingham Palace.

Re: Eeeekkkkkk!!
One day sunbathing in my back garden a rat ran out from underneath next doors shed and ran underneath the sunbed i was lying on then into the bushes at the back of my garden. Turned out we were in the middle of a rat run. One of the houses further on up the road bred budgies and the birdseed had fallen down through the cracks in the shed and there was a nest of rats underneath and they'd made a run through all the gardens on the estate backing onto this house oh and the house owner knew about this and had the pest control officer out but not said a word to anyone else about it - even though there were kids and old people in the vicinity.

Apparently that's true, rats are everywhere. My office car park backs on to an alleyway behind a row of shops in Warrington. Most of those shops are either restaurants or takeaways and I can tell you their back yards are full of rats (I don't eat there!). Environmental Health come along every now and then and get rid of them but they always reappear.
On an animal level I don't mind rats at all. They are fascinating to watch and, really, a bit like squirrels with bald tails and the females are very good mothers. I'm not scared of them but on the hygiene level they are a definite no-no and when one invades your garage as one, attracted by a neighbour's rabbits, did with me and chews big holes in your wellies for its nest (have you ever seen a pair of wellies like a collander?) it's time to call in the Council - good mother or not.
