New Ossy Petrol Station!
The petrol station at Badge Brow has had planning permission to re-open it says in the oberver. Does anyone remember the original Total Badge Brow Garage that opened there in the late 1960's

Hurray!
Petrol in Ossy again.
Won't have to waste money/petrol driving to Accy to fill up my car.

Re: New Ossy Petrol Station!
Are you sure its the Badge Brow one? I thought from reading it that it was the one near New Lane. It mentions that it is currently a car repair business, its near a mini roundabout and next to a blind bend.

Yes, but are you sure it's that one, did the article in the "Obs" not mention a roundabout, I was thinking it was the one at the top of ossy. Cllr Walmsley is quoted as saying......."Lancashire County Council has created more accidents on that stretch by creating silly roundabouts" Strange the Planning Committee disregarded the "Officers" recommendations, for a No. Plus I thought the owner of "ossy mills" bought the Badge Brow site, they are using it as a car park, and there are no mini roundabouts there . If it is the site above the Black Dog, then it's not been in use for several years as a petrol station, and I would think that the existing petrol tank installation does not meet present day regulations

Thought it did, so it is the one just past the New Lane turn off. The Obs quoted it as having been open in 2003, I think it was little before that, more like 10 years or more ago. So why did the planning committee over-rule the "Officers" of the council and grant planning permission, traffic wise it is a very bad area, is our Cllr Walmsley saying here that the traffic calming measures have caused an accident black spot. May be he know's better than the technical officers of HBC.

Re: New Ossy Petrol Station!
Yes it's the one at Moor End, which used to be called Moony's. They told my Ma when she was having her car serviced there in December they wanted to sell petrol again. Like someone else said Badge Brow is now one of Ossy Mill's many, many carparks.
The reason l went for petrol to the garage on Blackburn Rd. Accy, was that it's quicker than waiting to get through Church traffic lights, and l go a secret, special way.

But the park gates are chained up and closed So you would sooner drive over them there humps in the road than wait for the traffic lights Lol

Re: New Ossy Petrol Station!
I looks as though I was wrong with the location. On reading the Observer again it does look like is the Moor End one. I am glad it is that one and not the other.
I wonder if it will re-open as a Fina so I can collect green shield stamps again

Re: New Ossy Petrol Station!
As my previous post, I can't understand why the planning committee went against the recommendation of the planning officers of the council.

Re: New Ossy Petrol Station!
I think it must be because there is no petrol station in Ossy. It is not always convenient to travel somewhere else for fuel. I for one pass the Black Dog every day on my way to work. As far as being near to the bend, did accidents used to happen when it was the old Fina station?

Can't comment on that one, but Cllr Walmsley seems to think since LCC put the "silly" roundabouts in, there have been accidents.
