Police helicopter
Anyone know what was going on this morning. About 1.30 to 2.30 in the morning, the police helicopter was circling the nature reserve. I wouldn't normally have been up but Maddie was poorly.

Re: Police helicopter
No. I was still awake then and didn't hear a muff.
Perhaps they were following some recently migrated birds from the East.

Re: Police helicopter
At least it gave me and Madz something to talk about in between the barfing.
Funny thing about it was that there wasn't the usual blockade outside the entrance. If there were any criminal types in there they'd have had to wait for the helicopter to land before they could chase them.

Re: Police helicopter
Yes, I heard it last night too.
Strangely it was about the same time that Gayle heard it...two and a half years ago.

My understanding of it was that it was in the air last night, but also 2 and a half years ago at a similar time. Garinda did say that he heard it last night as well, but chucked a “funny” in to highlight that it was an old post.

Doing what exactly? Testing their engines? Putting the beam on Cashman after he'd been barred from another Ossy pub? Just think - it cost's about 600 quid an hour to keep one of these birds in the air so it is somewhat unlikely that the Lancashire Constabulary would have been 'Out and About' over Ossy on an aerial Country Run.
However, if it was the case then maybe you could write a letter to LCC/Police Committee and ask 'em if the next time they decide to come on a lttle jaunt over Ossy maybe they could time it with the opening night of the latest theatrical production at t'town hall. Just Imagine...red carpet, flashbulbs, noise...and then...taccy..taccy..taccy...a big chopper suddenly appears over Straits with a hugh great spotlight underneath.
That's whats called being in the Limelight.
Lovely stuff.

Re: Police helicopter
I was woken up by the Police helicopter at 1.45 this morning, hovering over Bullough Park. Just checked the police website and found this;
20/06/11 01:45 Accrington Pre planned tasking Task completed
Now can somebody tell me why they need to do some form of 'exercise' in the middle of the night over a residential area. Surely they can get enough practice these days catching real criminals
