I think silver birches have preservation orders on them and can only be felled if they are diseased or dangerous

I think they're only protected within conservation areas and I don't know if that is in one.

Somehow Gayle I don't think some of the estates I work on in Blackburn are conservation areas but they are still protected...or so I'm told by our tree lads

It seems in some parts of the country even the dreaded Leylandii are protected.

Well, they definitely protected in conservation areas Gayle, and the ruling is to ask if trees are protected in areas outside this.

Surprising how large these areas are e.g. Rhyddings is one and covers a large area and .. lol .. so is The Straits (as you probably are aware) so don't go cutting any of yer trees down from the garden.

What ever the building finishes up as, a chemist, or part of ossy mills it has got to be a great improvement on how it looked before.

I prune mine when needed and I think it is a silver birch. I am supposed to give 6 weeks notice of intent to do it in case they want to protect it.

Looking at the maps Kate posted Gayle I was wrong, the park is in the area. It always makes me smile when you look at the route of the Rhyddings one. It misses out certain streets on purpose by the strange route it takes.

Re: spruce up for ossy

Nope I just cut bits off them when needed. If I waited six weeks someone would loose an eye one of the trees drops so low in summer when full of leaves.

When it starts touching the car roof when I park on the road it is time to trim it
