I've had to vote cat...... I no longer have a cat as she died but I do have a dog. Although I love the dog to bits, she is definitely my child substitute, I find that cats are sooooooo much easier to look after and just as loving and loyal. If we were allowed 2 votes then dog would be there too......
Oh drat......the dog is growling at me now........ "It's alright sweetie-kins, mummy's coming....."

Give me an old fashioned smart rodent AKA a couple of rats. A lot less hassle and friendlier than a gerbil they are vicious little fur balls.
