Jon Anderson of the 70's group "YES"

An Accrington lad who became a world famous rock star - JON ANDERSON!
Jon Anderson - born 1944 in Accrington - he started out in local band The Warriors (with his brother Tony). The group had a large, local following.

The group "YES" was formed in 1968. Jon also had success with Mike Oldfield and Vangelis.
There is to be an exhibition, including photos, album covers, posters etc., at the Haworth Art Gallery from 16th October until 14th November

The photo is from 1968

Re: Jon Anderson of the 70's group "YES"

When he lived on Norfolk St my friend used to idolise him but would never speak to him - we had to walk past the house (by going on a detour) just in case he might be sitting on the garden wall and she could see him.

I noticed in the paper that 'Rod' Hill (always used to call him Rodney)is going to be there at the opening. He won me a coconut once at a garden party at St. Augustine's in Huncoat. Can I have that as my claim to fame? I remember they used to park the yellow van with horns outside his house on Pilot St (could be seen from the High School)

Exhibition at Haworth Art Gallery for Jon Anderson of the 70's group "YES"

The exhibition "YES; 35 Years of Wondrous Music" started today. Wow, the gentleman who has done the exhibition certainly has some stuff! David Watkinson (in white shirt) has been a collector of YES memorabilia for many years now - his collection is now on public display at the gallery.

Super-group YES, one of the most successful and enduring rock bands of all time, has a unique connection with Accrington. Lead singer, Jon Anderson was born in Accrington and celebrates his 60th birthday on October 25th.

"YES"

Fandom/Events
YES—35 Years of Wondrous Music is an exhibition at Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington, UK—Jon Anderson's hometown—put together by David Watkinson (author of "Yes—Perpetual Change") in celebration of Yes's 35th anniversary and Anderson's 60th birthday. The exhibition includes rare records, programmes, posters, t-shirts and other related music memorabilia. Download the flyer here. Approximately 300 people attended the opening day. The exhibition closes 14 Nov 2004: on that final day, there will be live music throughout the day (a local pianist playing Yes songs) and everything in the exhibition is up for sale.

That should be worth a visit. Not that I plan on buying anything of course but it should be good to hear the pianist.
