The Germans were not the only ones that stayed after the war the Italians did as well. They built a lovely chapel in the northern isles which still stands as a testament to them.

Staggerring man.I do not think he killed a lot of people.Basically his function was to stop them getting out so they could be 'disposed of'.Do not forget at that point in history if you spoke out or acted against the ' Nazi Regime'you found yourself on the other side of the fence.

My great aunt and uncle who lived on a farm up Stanhill, along with my grandparents, were featured on this programme. Two of the Germans were Methodists, and were allowed to attend York Street Methodist chapel. They also came to my granparent's house for Christmas dinner each year they were here.

They weren't nazis, just two young men along way from home and their families. My grandparents stayed in touch with them right up until the 70's when they lost touch, they also went to visit them in Switzerland many times after the war, the country they both eventually settled in.
