Re: The Germans We Kept
My great aunt and uncle who lived on a farm up Stanhill, along with my grandparents, were featured on this programme. Two of the Germans were Methodists, and were allowed to attend York Street Methodist chapel. They also came to my granparent's house for Christmas dinner each year they were here.
They weren't nazis, just two young men along way from home and their families. My grandparents stayed in touch with them right up until the 70's when they lost touch, they also went to visit them in Switzerland many times after the war, the country they both eventually settled in.
