That wasn't the point of putting this link on Margaret, if you've seen the list, of which Facebook is at number five, it just shows what lots of people think about modern day living, I quite agree its an Ideal way of keeping in contact with oversees relatives, but as for anything else. I can never get my head round anybody coming on Facebook and say, "that takes the biscuit" nothing more, well I suppose others then have to say what takes the biscuit why bother. If I went in general discussion on here and made a statement like that would I get some unholy stick and the mods would move it to anything goes twosix

Re: We can't live without Facebook
Douglas Adams, summed it up nicely in The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy with this
"The history of every major galactic civilisation has passed through three distinct and recognisable phases: those of survival, inquiry, and sophistication. Otherwise known as the ‘How’, ‘Why’, and ‘Where’ phases. For instance, the first phase is characterised by the question: “How can we eat?” The second by the question: “Why do we eat?” And the third by the question: “Where should we have lunch?"

Re: We can't live without Facebook
Just decided this aft. that Facebook is a wonderful thing and that it's creator is a genius.
My youngest was on today and saw that his brother, who's in India, was on chat - he called me and my other half up (it was lunchtime) and there was Ricky live over Facebook video chat -a new option i think.
So we got to "see" him for the first time in 3 weeks and he looked in great shape. It's one thing to speak on the phone -they tell you they're OK but maybe they're not -but it was such good video and sound it was like being in the same room!
My feet still haven't touched the ground yet...and I am all in favour of Facebook being an everyday essential.

Re: We can't live without Facebook
My parents have a place in Tenerife and lots of the Brits over there use it, they find it more reliable than MSN and others for voice and video chat.
I was in a English pub near there place chatting on my mobile using Skype on the pubs free wifi to a uk landlane for about 20 minutes, the cost was just over 20p and call quality was just the same if I had been on a land line

Snap -my parents have retired to Tenerife too. They moved 7 yrs ago to a little place called Callao Salvaje, on the coast below Adeje, it's next to Playa Paraiso and about 10 mins from Las Americas and Los Cristianos -nice to get across for winter holidays!
Wii have to look into the Skype thing properly...

Re: We can't live without Facebook
I sound like a sales rep but if you have a compatible three phone you get free skype to skype calls on three. They can call me on skype to my mobile from tenerife with me in the UK for free.
