in that section of the canal is a small "Bay" of which i believe Blythes owned 2 canal boats, back in the mists of time, possibly summat delivered off those boats caused the blue stain on the wall? me mate had all the history on it, but the thoughtless sod died when i lived in spain.

Not sure cashy but was that blue on the walls actually caused by Dolly Blue, was it not caused by something made on the Blyths site they've made some weird and wondeful stuff there in their time

Re: Dolly Blue
I remember the blue wall very well as I passed it every day going home from school, often walking. I was always told it was a Dolly Blue works. Next to that wall, on the West End side, was a house, right on the side of the canal. It had a central front door with a bay window on either side but the back of the building was part of the works. In front of the house was a triangular garden, it followed the curve of the canal and the road. The house and garden were derelict right back when I was a child in the 40s.

Re: Dolly Blue
I can remember the blue wall and the steps. We used to sneak off for the afternoon when I was at Ossy Tech and we walked for miles.
As for Dolly Blue, my nets need a wash and I was only thinking about it the other day. Not much chance of getting any here though.
It translates to ´azul muñequita´ but sounds much better in English.
