Re: 1910 - 2010
Just having a bit of a search, came across this, built in Accrington in 1910.
1910 E.J. Riley Child's Slated Pool Table & Card Table
$5,385.00!
I wonder how many houses you could have bought in Accrigton for that in 1910?

Re: 1910 - 2010
Apparently 1910 was also when Accrington's M.P. changed from being Sir Joesph Leese, to Harold Baker.
Accrington 1885-1983 (Hansard)
A hundred years later we're about to have another change.

Re: 1910 - 2010
'An extension of the Baxenden line to the Commercial Hotel in the centre of Haslingden was completed on 28th September 1908 and further extended to Lockgate (on the Haslingden/Rawtenstall boundary) on the 20th October 1908, where it met with the tracks of Rawtenstall Corporation. Due to disagreements between the two councils, through running did not commence until 1st April 1910.'

Good to see some things never change!

Re: 1910 - 2010
I've just come across a couple of photographs relating to the Funerals of MRS. BARNES and MISS MORGAN in Oswaldtwistle dated 30 July 1910.
These ladies plus others were killed in the fire at WILLIAMS Store.
Can anyone tell me who MRS. BARNES was?? Where she lived, her husband's name??
With thanks,
Barnsie

Re: 1910 - 2010
The address is likely to be in the Observer reports of the fire & inquest. Send a request to the library:-
