Accrington Acclaimed - new book
I have been asked to explain my absence from the forum for many weeks. I have had to put all my time into preparing a new book - Accrington Acclaimed. It is a book of photos with captions, and this posting is a public thank you to the members of the site who have been particularly helpful in the preparation - Atarah, Retlaw, Owd Bert,Jeffboldstreet .
I will keep you posted over the book's progress. It is being printed at Nayler's but is running late due to problems at my end.
I should mention that my pal geoff taylor ('accyjeff') is my co-compiler. Even though he lives in France, his heart's in t'reyt place - Accy

Re: Accrington Acclaimed - new book
Q. Why Accrington Acclaimed?
A. To acclaim means 'to applaud enthusiastically' or 'to shout applause' An acclamation is a shout in a person's ( or a town's) honour.
We think so highly about Accrington and being Accringtonians that we want to shout out and tell everybody. It's akin to Preston and Pride. If ever I get enobled, -bank on it I'll be 'Lord Accrington'.

You've got it wrong you are more likely to get nobled.
We already have a Lord in Accrington,
he thinks he's the Lord of the local council
Retlaw.

Re: Accrington Acclaimed - new book
Should it not be ennobled?

No, A thowt it were wrong but wernd sure. I were punced up at Woodnook Council School, never learnt proper grammar, old Pop Heys were to intent on showing the boys, what was going on on the various battle fronts, especially what Monty's tactics were, then for an hour he had us formation marching in the central hall. I hate Suza's maching tunes. If he could have had us in uniform, with full pack and rifles, old Pop Heys would have been in his element.
Silly owd ******, stepped out of a railway carriage on wrong side & got killed.
Retlaw.

Re: Accrington Acclaimed - new book
ThankYou for a copy of your new book which i am reading at the moment.
There are some very good photo's in there but also the explanation of where and when it was taken is a lot better for the odd comments that have been added
also i like the little adverts you have found for the era of the photo it really makes for a good book and a great read .
i wish you all the success for all the work you have put into it and hope the sales go very well
i also hope the launch at Accy library 12-2pm goes well on the 25th of November
Everyone that reads the book will be talking about it.
