Thanks for the suggestion Bob, I might just do that. I do think my great grandad's story deserves a wider audience.
Cheers

We agree with you Susie ... the room at Haworth would have just been a lovely little taster whilst we looked around and the possibility of funding.
Not easy ...can't just say... 'that building' would be great... yes, but most are privately owned, etc., and would have to be bought. Even H.B.C. owned buildings would be difficult for them to hand it over for a museum as funding would be needed ...not easy to extract from them in this period of cut backs.
Any wealthy benefactors out there ?
Thanks for your story of your great grandad. See! Amazing what people come up with.
Dang, can't make the meeting tomorrow... have another..

Re: Accrington should have a museum
We now have a new group in Hyndburn, hoping to get a Museum/Heritage centre off the ground.
IT IS BEING CALLED HYNDBURN HERITAGE and COMMUNITY GROUP
The first meeting, where we hope to have lots of folk attend, is to be held at
THE PEEL PARK HOTEL, Turkey Street, ACCRINGTON
on
MONDAY 28th NOVEMBER, 2011 - 7.15 for 7.30 start
Now that we have an official name, we can really get "stuck in". It will NOT be easy, we know that, but, we are dedicated, enthusiastic and "raring to go".
We would LOVE to have as many folk as possible to turn up to support us and hopefully, join our group
Please put this date in your diary - 28.11.2011 at 7.15ish.

Re: Accrington should have a museum
I'm not welcome at the Peel Park, but perhaps I can find some other ways to help. I'll put my thinking cap on.

Why?
You don't come across as the rowdy type.
They've let me in, which has set a precedent when it comes to allowing trouble makers in.

Re: Accrington should have a museum
It's a long story. I was a regular for years. Without bad-mouthing anyone I really can't say more - and I'd rather let people make their own judgements. But rest assured I did absolutely nothing wrong.
I have a few ideas on how I can help the cause. I'll post them soon once they're better thought out.

Re: Accrington should have a museum
It does sound promising, pity a place more central can't be found though.
