Re: Ancient Wall ?

It's not so much health centres as actual doctors and dentists that we need. We've got a health centre in Avenue Parade but have you actually tried to see a doctor there? It can be quite a challenge.

I thought the new health centre proposal was supposed to be part of "Phoenix" - what a shame if this potential oasis is finally going to be lost to the developers.

Doesn't anyone in a position to do something have any vision of how Accy could be?

Re: Ancient Wall ?

Sadly Willow, from the evidence to hand, it doesn't seem that anyone does. Which is why the Market Hall is up for sale, there is still no solution to Broadway, last year's Christmas lights were taken down at the end of last month so that they could put the new ones up this month and on and on and on and on........

Not so much "30 years of service to the community" more like "30 years of make do and mend".

Re: Ancient Wall ?

At least you've got Christmas lights! Look on the bright side.

However, on a recent visit to Accy I was struck by how incongruous the town centre now appears. An overlarge new development on the site of the old open market with market stalls now squashed into half of what was the bus station and buses trying (yet failing) to fit into what remains. Not to mention the state of Broadway, no gardens, just mis-matched ground surfaces.

Market Hall up for sale? It won't be long before there is no market at all at that rate. Accrington market used to be the envy of surrounding towns.

Re: Ancient Wall ?

That was probably 30 years ago Gobsmacked.
