Now its looks bloody awful.

That old picture takes me right back, that's how I remember Church Commercial. There's the green wooden bus shelter with the little garden next door and the public loos on the other side. The shops on the other side of the road, past the traffic lights, I remember Snell's the chemists being there.
It wasn't beautiful but it was a thriving community and it was alive. The modern picture looks like a waste-land.

I remember that the double decker buses used to lean precariously as they turned right from Ossie onto Blackburn Rd going to Accy

I actually think they are making quite a decent job of this junction. Still work to be done, but looking quite pleasant.

When I was a kid...way back when, it was a thick yellow cloudy smog smelling of sulpher.

me classmates dad had a little furniture shop across from snells chemist, aint seen him since i left in 63, was a good little community back then, sadly gone now.

lived in church in the early eighties
the smell of the tannery was orrid
but the community was great all the pubs busy
