Arrow Can you spare a mo to assist with a dissertation questionnaire on WWI Commemoration?

Hi fellow Accringtonians!

Before I start, I realise posts like this can be seen as a bit spammy(!) so I did run this post past Mick before going ahead to get an Admin ok and am following his guidance!

I'm just in the last stages (and almost at the end of my tether!) of putting together my dissertation for a Public History Masters I'm doing through York uni. I'm looking at public attitudes to the upcoming commemoration of the First World War Centenary and also the way sometimes national and local governments 'use' these kinds of events, I suppose a similar example would be how the Olympics was about sport, but the occasion was also used to push positive ideas about national identity and unity within the country (not that I'm saying this will happen in relation to WWI but it's something I'm looking at) and how much one might affect the other. Or that's the plan!

So to get an idea of public attitudes I've been asking people in York and Accrington to get an idea in a couple of different areas.) I've been doing this through a (short!!) survey which is completely anonymous and should take 2-3 minutes to complete max. I was hoping if anyone on the boards had a couple of minutes spare sometime would they mind filling it in? Clicking the link loads up the explanation page which goes through all the admin type stuff!

If you do get the chance I'd be incredibly grateful! It'll be open for another week or so.

Thanks so much! Lindsay

I've done it, I pretended I still lived in Acc. Good work Lindsay - and best of luck with the Blackpool fixtures this coming season. Your biggest difficulty will be with the club's owners. I forgot to put that I hope the council-led organising committee will not stick to Pals-only matter. Other towns and other military units should be included.
