girls day out

This photo is of a ladies day out. taken top of Oak Street, Accrington.
just imagine how today's ladies would have been dressed. Looking at the photo more closely I bet some of these ladies are not as elderly as they first look. its the clothes they had to wear!

Re: girls day out

As it is taken at the top of oak St, the betting is that these ladies are either from Oak St Cong church or are members opf the Lafdies group of the Co-op Society, whose offices were nearby, with a big meeting room above the Co-op cloggers shop. Nearly all the ladies are suffering from Ducks' Disease.

Have you a date for the photograph Atarah?

It's difficult to judge when the ladies feature are a little more mature, as they tend not to be at the cutting edge of fashion. But judging fron the coats and cloche hats I'd say it was taken in the late twenties/early thirties.

If I had to guess I'd say 1929.
