Help and Advice please
Is there anyway i could find out where my Great Grandmother was living between 1913-1921
in 1913 she was 16 , and had younger siblings when they became orphans , its probable that they lived with other family , and she married in August 1921 and i know where she was by then . I am assuming she wouldn't have been eligible to vote , so electoral rolls wont be of any use ( will they ??) . Is there any other documents i could view that would list names of households or anything i could search by name to find out where she was and who she was living with
On her marriage certificate her address was the same as her husband , who had returned from WW1 in 1919 , so i don't think she'd been living with him for long

Have you looked on the 1911 Census ? I know you say 1913 but they maybe in same place 2 years earlier. Might be worth a try.

Re: Help and Advice please
Barrett's directories in the library will giver you only the name of the main householder at an address. Her marriage certificate may give clues - who were her witnesses? Any address in newspaper report on her death? Any address on burial register in cemetery?

Without a name & town, we can't help. If she married a WW1 soldier and his papers have survived, she may be mention on them.

Re: Help and Advice please
Her mother died in november 1913 at back castle street accrington ( i dont even know where that was , logic suggests somewhere behind the castle pub ?) , so which registers/documents would have her name and address on from 1914 to 1919 ? her younger brothers and sisters would still have been at school , are school registers available to view ? i dont know which school they went to but i could start with schools closest i.e Peel Park, Mary Mags etc i know she was a brush maker was there any brush makers close by? would there be any employment records?

Re: Help and Advice please
Several Castle St lads & lasses went to St John's CofE. The headmaster (?) has the registers. She would leave at 14yrs probably and may have been a
'half-timer' . I think that Back Castle St would be on the right hand side going up the street as Milton St would interrupt a back on the North side. A detailed map ( in the library) would tell you. Give the school a ring and ask for the email address
I haven't yet looked, but have you tried to find any Deveraux in the area now?
I think this would be better in the Friends/Family section -= ask the webmaster to change it over and give it the heading 'Deveraux'
