J. Harrison, Photographer

A photo of my gggrandfather, John Evans, has on the back this inscription:
J. Harrison, Photographer, Abbey St., Accrington
The photo was likely taken 1880-1884 before the family emigrated to the US.
Might the photos / negatives from that old company be now in a library or other archive source? If so, where? I'd very much like to find more of him and others in the family, taken at the same time.

Re: J. Harrison, Photographer

I wonder if that was the shop next door to the G.P.O? We had our wediing photos done there.

Re: J. Harrison, Photographer

I believe their address was 91 Abbey Street. Will see if I have any photos of the area.
And sorry, but I doubt very much any glass slides are still around

Just found out my hairdresser's is no. 83, so Harrisons must have been on the block that was demolished many years ago, and would have been the block before where the Tesco garage now is.

If I have worked it out correctly, the old brown painted shop you can see, which was once Birtwistle's, was probably the site of Harrison's photographers.
