Local family history

I would like to find out more about my family history in Oswaldtwistle.
Is there an internet address for the Oswaldtwistle local history society.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
PETER.

Re: Local family history

There are two websites which might help you. One is lancashirebmd, which has births, marrigaes and deaths and the other lancashireparishrecords which has baptisms, marriages and some confirmations. Both are easy to follow. Good luck with your search.

Re: Local family history

I work in the field of local and family history. I advise that, even if for one year only, you join the Lancashire family History Society ( google website). and having joined you join their Yahoo forum ( no extra cost). You will receive a quarterly magazine and your name and interests will be recorded. The society's library/work room is in Ossie. Even if you don't join, see the website and click onto the turquoise block on the home page to allow you to be put in contact with any members who are researching your names

There is a Hyndburn LOCAL history society - Google their website

There is an Ossie Civic Society, of which I know next to nowt. I will enquire if it is still in existence.

I suggest that you also post on here in the Friends/Family section, stating the names you are interested in as a headline.

Re: Local family history

Hi Peter, some of my husband's close relatives were born and raised in Oswaldtwistle, and I am very much into family history research myself. What surname/s are you interested in?

As a matter of interest we live in South Australia also.
