Re: Name the stream
I concede with good grace. (Not happy, you bloody fairy) I stand by the fact that I have peed in the thing on many, many occasions and never once called it or knew it by the name of Antley Syke.
Kate, darling, sweet angle of womanhood. Could you find out for me if there are any full scans or copies of the maps in question? I would love to be able to look over them at my leisure. Good work Kate.
Nice to see that some old place names, details, and farmsteads have survived the passage of time.

Does that make sense? What I'm trying to say is that we are actually both right ...... Springhill Clough is the wooded area that Antley Syke stream runs through.

Clough - a ravine or the sloping side of a ravine.

Re: Name the stream
That's very good of you but it's begining to look as though I am wrong. What we knew as Springhill Clough will always be that as it was a name we made up, I doubt you would find that on any map. I really did think that Antley Syke began somewhere near Ossy Mills and from there to Jacobs Lodge had a different name.

Oh you really are asking for it!!
There was more than one syke on these maps. Another that I remember was called Wight Syke (I think). You'll eat your words when you see the maps for yourself

Re: Name the stream
Looking at the maps I think Antley Syke as it is commonly known on accyweb does not start at Jacobs lodge.
