Just read that and I was not convinced that it was the same bit of running water.

Well i've never followed it myself but led to believe that it goes from Springhill down by the lodges (now gone) through Tanpits and as Tealeaf mentioned further up the post it comes out at the bridge on Dill Hall lane where it joins the river Hyndburn.

Re: Name the stream

After studying all the evidence it's my impression that any running water from Moscow Mill Street is Antley Syke but from Jacobs lodge to the bottom of coal pit lane it is something else.

Sorry, le fey. Bagpuss is right. Antley Syke runs out towards what was Hyndburn House. What Bagpuss identifies as Springhill Clough appears to be correct.

My source of information is the Mario site which clearly shows both systems…..

Actually it’s the Hyndburn. Yes I know I’m a pillock but I sincerely believe that Bagpuss is correct. I just need an older map.

Re: Name the stream

I've just been following it's route on that Mario map website. It shows it clearly but no name.

I'll go and have a look at the maps tomorrow were Ian's dad saw it, if I can find them.

What do you mean Bagpuss? Before his dad said it was called Antley Syke I just thought it was part of Tinker Brook.

Right, the maps are on the walls in the Oswaldtwistle section at Ossy Mills.

Re: Name the stream

Ok. I can’t be sure but I think we’re still right. Springhill Clough runs out for Jacobs lodge and runs all in a straight line following Orchard Drive, Star Street crossing the corner of Tanpits on to the Hyndburn.

Now Antley Syke I believe ran a course through Lower Antley as it was and now takes a line under Lonsdale Street and India Street and on to the Hyndburn.

This of course maybe just supposition on my part but if anyone is going up to the library anytime soon I would be interested to find out if this is correct?
