Number 3 Mill, Vine Mills, Oswaldtwistle (THE BIT YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO SEE)

While driving through Oswaldtwistle the other day I seen this mill an decided I'd have a closer look,After a little while I came across a part (round the back) that look knackered with a sign saying keep out....the rest is history as they say

HISTORY/DESCRIPTION:
Built around 1906-07 for 52,000 spindles for cotton spinning and driven by a 650 horsepower Yates & Thom horizontal cross compound steam engine. Spinning ended in 1967. Four storey mill in machine made red brick. Windows in pair on the first three floor and in threes on the top floor. Large window areas as in later mills. At the north-east corner is a five storey tower with a steeply pitched octagon roof topped by a platform. the mill's name is picked out in white glazed brick. There is also a octagonal brick chimney which i believe is now used by a leading mobile phone network.

ENJOY:
