It was a Masseys pub originally, then it became a Bass pub, after Masseys were taken over. A big Claret fans pub too, as I recall, as the Burnley bus stop was just across the road.

Yes it was a big Clarets pub. They used to meet in there for home and away matches regardless of time they were setting off. If front door wasn't open back door was

Hope & Anchor was the Blue/White pub

If I remember , you used to have an idea what brewery ran a pub by the paint job outside , Lion usually green , Thwaites a dark red , Duttons a darkish blue I think and Masseys a black and cream job

Re: Old House At Home Pub

one pub allways stuck me as a bit odd , think its the Hargreaves (across from the police station , a big huge place but it was allways empty ,never more than 5 or 5 customers maybe at the time I used it ,it had a poor landlord, or the location put 'regular' folks off

Don't remember him but, then again, I was very rarely sober when I went in!

Sure there weren't ever 4 or 6?

Melbourne Street has now been absorbed into Eastgate.
