Old Postcard Picture Quiz!!!

I have seen these two old postcards for sale recently. The seller says they're almost certainly of Accrington (or surrounding area) because they came from a collection of local cards. I can't recognise either of them - does anyone else?

A few things:
• I can't get better quality images - sorry
• The cards may or may not be related to each other - no idea

No idea where they are.

Would guess the first is just after WW1, about 1919/20, and the first is just before the Great War, circa 1912, going off the hat and hair styles.

There's also a Union Jack costume in the first photograph, so it could be Empire Day, rather than a church's Whitsuntide procession.

Picture no 2 has letters or a name at bottom right on the cobbles, to blurred to read.
Can't say thats Accrington, not any where I've ever seen before.

Thanks Garinda and Retlaw for having a look. Much appreciated.

I think you're about right with the dates Garinda - give or take. On the first one the location is really difficult to match, and Union Flags were carried at lots of events, so I knew that was always going to be a bit of a shot in the dark.

I thought the second one might have proved fruitful though. The chimney / mill just behind the houses might have been enough of a landmark for someone to recognise. But again, it's not forced to be local anyway

the second one looks strangely familiar, first thought it could be Charter Street way back, but can't see the slope, so think that ideas knackered.

Thought the same Cash, with the railway wall on the right. Also looks like there are two other chimneys in the distance. Retlaw, I think the writing could be a grate by the curb.

I don't think the pitch of the roofs, seen in the second photograph, are typical of terraced houses in this area. They look much steeper.

Also if you blow the photograph up, the terrace seen in the middle of the photograph seems to have bay fronts.

I couldn't make out if that was a large fence or a garden wall with houses set back - hard to tell with the perspective.

I think I can see a slight upward slope in the street image (maybe a dodgy angle?). Pretty sure it's not Charter Street though.

Not sure about the roofs - but I think you might be spot on with the windows. Not many of those around Accy.

I'm starting to think that they are random images from elsewhere in the Northwest. Thanks for the effort though.

looked like the owd railway wall that ran down to the shed entrance, that had me thinking, used to walk down top of that wall oer 50 yrs ago.
