Outfitters from Howard and Bulloughs

Here is a family wedding photograph. Just made me realise how many people's lives were affected and changed, through working at Howard and Bulloughs.

The bride (whom I am named after) was a Pilkington from Accrington, marrying an Widdup, who was a H & B employee. All I know is, what my granny told me, that he was sent abroad, as an outfitter, to Rio de Janiero in fact, for 12 months to "see how it went". He liked it over there, and after 12 months, took his family to live there, his wife and 2 daughters. One daughter married an Argentinian and one never married. Although elderly, she is still alive. So, if you ever go to S America and notice an English name, WIDDUP, in their phone book, you will know its all because of H & B in Accrington!

That's interesting, Atarah, I wonder if I'm related to her?

Re: Outfitters from Howard and Bulloughs

My Mum's maiden name was Pilkington, don't remember my Gran that much. Mum had a sister Florrie (Hoyle), and 2 brothers Ernie and Fred. Gran always lived with my Aunt in Oswald St in 40s and 50s
