When were they built Margaret, I used to court a lass that lived at 21 Fielding lane and my Mums Bosses son lived next door at 19. Did Saporiti sell the Palace to another owner or was it him that sold it to Shopfitters? I know Shopfitters owned it in the early 70s and used it as a recreation centre for Table Tennis and Badminton for a while then turned it into a storage place.

Didn't realise it originally had that huge entrance canopy originally, is that why the road is now a little wider on Union Road now it is not there then ?

As an aside ... hope I am correct about this. Noticed an insolvency notice in the Observer for Vincent Whitehead. As I understand it, he bought the Palladium and the Church Commercial.

Re: Palladium Bus stop to change its name

About two years ago my Dad phoned the number on the side to enquire if it was for sale. He was told that the owners had taken it off the market - then there were rumours that Ossy Mills had bought it but I don't think they had - the FOR SALE sign is still there and there's been no action in all this time.

We live very near to Ossy Mills.

If I told my 8 year old son to get off the bus at the Palladium he wouldn't know what I was talking about.

He knows exactly what Ossy Mills is though.

The Palladium is obsolete now to kids.

I think you'll find it is Vinny cashy, he's younger than me, lives on Badge Brow, a purpose built house right at the end, he's a very innovative bloke he was doing a waste paper collection before HBC started theirs, used to chat to him regularly, I also know his wife Pauline, was brought up on Spring Terrace Ossy

I remember in the very late sixties and early seventies it was still a cinema, but it only showed Asian films.

Since there were no other cinemas in Ossy by this time I felt very cheated that I wasn't able to go.

The Bollywood posters made it look very exciting.

It was just the nostalgia thing Bernie. I doubt there will be many people who will remember the Load of Mischief, never mind bus drivers.
