Photos of Accy with someone you recognise on them

Hi, ever seen a photo taken somewhere and you just KNOW you recognise someone on it. My aunt married a Larder. They were a well known Baxenden family. Her father-in-law, always known as "Grandad Larder" always used to walk into town from Bash, even in his later years, and put a "bet on" in Accrington town centre and call for a "jar" at the old club which used to be on Union Street (where Barclays Bank now is) - then he would catch the bus home. When I saw this photo a few years ago, even though Grandad L had died by then, I just knew it was him, been "captured by the camera" for ever. He's the chappie walking away from the camera, with flat cap and walking stick. I just know if he could turn round I would find myself saying "hello Grandad Larder". :-)

How lovely Atarah. Not having any past Mayors or dignitaries in my family, nothing much really, except there is an old photograph of the Market Hall (think might be the one in the Jubilee book) where my mum swore that one of the guys standing under the lampost was my dad..

That name rings bells. I'm sure that he used to drink with my dad.

Re: Photos of Accy with someone you recognise on them

We borrowed a book from the library about Accrington.

It had a lot of pictures in. One picture was taken in Accrington in 1952 at a procession for the Queen's coronation. It was on the back cover of the book.

My mum was shocked to see herself on it, she was only 3 at the time, standing there in her best frock next to her best friend (who is still her best friend today. )

It was a lovely photo.
