I remember thinking didn't look anything like the street it is on now. Seems like you had to go down steps to get to the houses on the left. Would be interesting to know how it changed. Were they knocked down and the road raised or something ?

Re: Quiz - RETLAW, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ANSWER
It's looking from Nuttall Street up the street that runs up behind the police station and old fire station (can't remember whether it's called Grange Street or Wellington Street). If you look at the top of the building slightly to the left of telegraph pole, just visible above the hats of the crowd, that's what used to be the Tramway.

Of course it is, Bernie! How could I forget? In that case, I reckon the street is Grange Street.

Re: Quiz - RETLAW, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ANSWER
I would say wellington street also. a bit further down from where the old printers (Think it was a printers) was. Looks a bit like the police station garage in the background.
Wellington street also goes up past the police station not just where the pop club is.

Re: Quiz - RETLAW, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ANSWER
Hi, yep, well done, it is indeed looking up Wellington Street, the section from Nuttall Street up towards Manchester Road. Its an Accrington Pipe Band procession. And yes, you can make out the building which was the old Tramway Pub at the top (now NLTG)
The people on the right hand side of the photo are standing in front of what was Shuttleworths Printers, now flats. It isnt though the Police garage that you can see, think its the back of Bugle Yard. Well done to everyone.
