Re: Simla St. Accy
Was definitiely in East Ward Jelly Baby, actually Lune's Court. Retlaw will probably know exactly where, once teased us with a competition on where certain 'courts/yards' were. Will have to throw this challenge to him...

Re: Simla St. Accy
Does anyone have a map of the area? Or is there one I could upload from anywhere?

Re: Simla St. Accy
Try looking at this map - it will zoom in
http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/environ...cc/acceast.jpg
I found Grange St near the 'smudge', central on the map

Shurmers maps show it as it was before demolition.
The 1863 map shows only 3 blocks have been built.

Don't understand that Retlaw .. my Shurmers map only shows one block still standing (well, a shorter street which ends as it reaches Napier Street) and Wellington Court in it's place .. must have a later edition do you think ? Does say 1988 though, when it was adopted by as the 'Official Borough Guide'

A lot of Grange St at the southern end, was demolished in 1966 to make way for Wellington Court, I have photo's of the demolition somewhere.

Yeh, but you said Shurmer's map shows it before demolition and the other map with just 3 blocks ? Did you get it the wrong way around, or have I misunderstood ?
Sure Jelly Baby would appreciate the photos if you can find them.

Re: Simla St. Accy
The dates are as I gave in my earlier post.
Pictures of the area taken in 1966.

Re: Simla St. Accy
It's not Simla St, that was a misinterpretation of census info, it's actually Lunes Court.
