the gauge of tramlines

after seeing the photo in the other thread showing Blackburn Rd. got to wondering if all the different Tram companies operated on the same gauge , seem to remember reading in another thread that a change was required at Intack ? if travelling from Accrington to Blackburn.

I seem to remember they were all the same guage, just wide enough to get your bikes front wheel stuck in them and go ars... head over heels.
