St John's, Acc. There were some there who attended when it was a primary, junior and senior school and pupils left at 15yrs of age. The school has just re-started its Parent-Teachers Association. It may be that us ex-pupils will be taking more interested in today's school activities.

Re: The Pubs of Accrington
I haven't time to look at the map, ex-pat but wish it well. There is another thread on here about old pubs, clubs, breweries. It will be worth having an hour with it. Not mentioned so far on here are the off-licensed shop and the beerhouses which did not have a name. They have long gone, One was bottom of Albert St in a private house.

Re: The Pubs of Accrington
When I try to go onto the site mentioned, a big yellow sign comes up saying "Woah, do you really want to do on that site?" - its a risky site.
Have you never been on this site http://www.closedpubs.co.uk/lancashire/accrington.html

Hyndburn Park School looks just the same- took me straight back to 1945!
I'm sure they're not all on yet but it's astonishing how many pubs there were- I suppose working down the pit or in a mill left you with a savage thirst, all that dust. If you needed an excuse!

Hi Gordon
Not sure I understand your reference to opening pictures, there are no pictures to open at the moment.

Re: The Pubs of Accrington
Dale St WMClub had its front door in Grimshaw St, a short street off Blackburn Rd. Dale St became Lower Antley St after Grimshaw St.

Re: The Pubs of Accrington
Cheers Cashman, I have some decent malware detection in place but the little blighters can always slip through.
I moved the three pubs from Tinker Brook and put them on dry land near Union Road. Are they in the right position?

Re: The Pubs of Accrington
Was the building to the South of Church Con Club a pub at one time?
I have been adding some features to the site ie. find a pub, town names, whether open or closed etc.
If anyone can think of any other useful features, don't be afraid to mention them.
Could really do with some photos to make the site look like it is loved.
If I was back in Accrington, I would have been round them all by now

Re: The Pubs of Accrington
Can you please confirm the location of The St. Leger pub. The icon is placed at the top of Plantation Street but St. Leger Court, which I assume is connected, is at the bottom of Plantation Street near the New Jerusalem Church.

Re: The Pubs of Accrington
The St Leger pub was in Plantation St, (Bash side) and numbered No 48. St Leger Yard was alongside it and contained two houses.
