what was kept behind these walls??

having a drive out and noticed these gate posts, whilst driving around the perimeter walls there was no building to be seen, just wondering if anyone has any idea?
they are on the left hand side as you take the turn off for wycoller.it is a trout fishery called ullowen, the water comes from the hills and a roman bath that is always full and runs into the lake.
couldnt take any piccies of it as it is only open at weekends, will try again sometime.

I think it was the prison where they kept the bridge poachers before they deported them.
