Where was this photo taken???

This photo, taken maybe in the 1890s/1900s, is in a family album of mine, which belonged to the Blakes of Accrington (Dykenook Lodge family). Does anyone know where it is? I thought it might be Whalley Abbey, but having looked at current photos of the Abbey I don't think it is.
Any suggestions gratefully received!

Yes I think so - a ruined church, chapel, or similar. That's why I thought it might be Whalley Abbey.

The ruined bit may have been demolished. I think it may well be Whalley Abbey but I can't find a pic of it which may be due to the reason that we don't normally associate the buildings in use with the ruins. As you enter the Abbey grounds via the gatehouse you will see the Conference buildings straight ahead with the dog leg staircase going up. I think these are just off to the right of the photo that started the thread and the white bit is the car park area as it was originally just a circular drive. Maybe someone could get a pic??

That ruin on the left of the house reminded me of Sawley Abbey ruins
I suppose most abbeys had a similar style of building

The (side) gable of the house looks Jacobean, and the windows face on look Elizabeathen...and the ruin looks Gothic.

I want to know now.

It's a pity you can't put a picture into Google Image, and just let it search.

The more I look the more I think it is the building at Whalley Abbey. I went to a Book Fair in the building and the windows are low down. The doorway is just off to the right and you have to go down a couple of steps to go in. I am actually going to Whalley tonight but won't be able to get a pic as the gates will probably be locked - I'll take the camera just in case though!!

If you Google Image 'Whalley Abbey' there are photographs of a house in the grounds, but the windows, though similar, are different in size, and number of mullions.

Stupidly I earlier posted a copyrighted photograph to show this, but am still smarting from having my arse smacked, quite rightly, by the mods.

I went through the album some years ago with my Mum, and made a note of the pictures she identified, so I think she must have suggested Whalley Abbey (but with a ?query?) - the "history" I have is as I said in the original post - the family lived in Accrington, so I guess Whalley isn't too far away!

As a PS I am adding a photo of Dykenook Lodge, almost certainly taken when it was first built, in 1907.

Whalley Abbey is about 5 miles from Accy Cmee.
I did manage to sneak a look last night at the part I thought it was but unfortunately I was wrong, the doorway in your photo is too far right. However at the far end of the Whalley Abbey site there is another house which may be a contender but couldn't get any confirmation in the dark!!
