who remembers

who remembers the chip shop across the road from the old accy baths there was a sweet shop i think as well,i remember after having a swim i used to buy a beta bar ,and 3 pence bag of chips ,infact just the thoughts making me hungry

I remember the chippy my grandma lived next door and my dad worked at the pit do you remember that also the confectioners on the other corner i seem to think Jean Wikstead i think she was called but it all depends on your age if you remember things and if you went up joe morts you will certainly remember that

not old enough for that,but i've got alot of happy memories. i lived on holden st next to the cafe my mum worked there,we had a comunial yard hope thats how to spell it and all the families got on pretty good,was morts next to bull bridge is it a gym

Bull Bridge was were the arndale carpark entry is now steve. morts was next to the "Big Crown" by the bridge on blackburn rd.

all i remember about morts as a kid is a big stair way with green enamaled tiles

I regularly used the chip shop in the 1950's after swimming. I remember getting a years swimming pass for 10 shillings and tried to avoid the time when the miners from next door were finishing their shift as you couldn't get in the hot shower.

we used to go swimming every sunday morning the pools now don't have patch on the old accy baths everthing seemed to glem from the green tiles to brass and copper pipes, many a time i bang a knee or an elbow on the stone steps at the deep end.
