Another Utilities Cock-Up!
It's only a few months since Hyndburn Road was resurfaced, causing considerable disruption to traffic. Now I notice that all the good work is to be undone by British Gas who have given notice that Hyndburn Road will be closed for several weeks between Oxford Street and the viaduct roundabout from May 14th which will no doubt affect the Asda Store in particular. Were the council given advance notice of the timetable for closure before the resurfacing, or is it just further evidence of the incompetance so often demonstrated by the powers that be?

Re: Another Utilities Cock-Up!
The gas work repairs is going to go on for ages, they are putting new gas pipes down all the way up Hyndburn Rd,Burnley Rd and Manchester Rd so it is going to be hard work for quite a few months.
In my opinion I think they have wasted money, doing gas works need quite a bit of advanced warning surely?

I doubt many on here could answer that one. Why don't you contact your County Councillor and find out then tell us your findings?
Or was the idea of the thread just to have a moan?

Re: Another Utilities Cock-Up!
I think "Stumped" and "Heth" have a point, trying to contact Officials and Public Utilities can be time-consuming and frustrating. Surely a website is for people to have a moan if needs be and to let off steam.

Re: Another Utilities Cock-Up!
There was a silent movie made around the mid sixties, I think it was called the building site, I've just looked on Youtube to see if its on, but I ain't come up with anything. As somebody who work on building sites it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen, A lot of comedy actors were in it, Basically it was about a building site and the goings on, The Gas board digging the Road up, then just as they were going out off one end of the road the Electricity Board were coming down the road and dug up the same patch, then the water board, it was hilarious, just wish I could find it to share on here

No Beni the plank was done after this, If I remember rightly this short film was on the same bill at the cinema as Goal, which was a documentary about England winning the world cup in 66, but it's actually much funnier than the Plank Beni

Emailed local and County Councils when I first saw the notices. So far haven't heard a dickie-bird. So I thought it would be prudent to ask on here.
