Are you sure it was in Clayton?

There was a Moreton Hall going into Whalley, which was demolished in the late fifties, though you can still see the gatehouse on the mainroad from Harwood to Whalley, overlooking the Nab. My great granny was born there, and somewhere we have a book about it, and photos of it being pulled down.

Re: clayton le moors

If this is what you were looking at, I think it has been wrongly labelled as being in Clayton-le-Moors, as it looks exactly like Moreton Hall in the parish of Whalley. It was a calendar house, with 365 panes of glass, twelve chimneys etc.
