Re: Planning Applications

Could someone please confirm if this will be Accy's first onion:

Case File

This is going to be three floors high, so it will be clearly visible from Hyndburn road - the main gateway into town. It will, of course be topped by the planned one opposite ASDA if that does go ahead.

Re: Planning Applications

140 Whalley Road, Accrington.

I am truly AMAZED as to why this lovely looking property was given Planning Permission to be DEMOLISHED. Anyone know why?
Case File

In particular read the bit that says 19th Oct BACKGROUND PAPERS, this shows a photograph of the house that was once there.

I was initially confused as your post states 140 Whalley Road but the planning application is for 270 Whalley Road. Looks as though the house has been empty and dilapidated for some time. There may be structural problems, dry rot etc. and the building is not listed so there are no restraints on its being demolished.

Presumably the applicant prefers a modern house with four ensuites and an additional bathroom downstairs.

Re: Planning Applications

I would just have thought anyone wanting "a modern house with 4 ensuites and an additional bathroom downstairs would have bought such a property" without all the upheaval of demolishing and re-building.

Depends what area they want to live in and how much it cost to buy the site and demolish/rebuild. Also by doing this they would have more say in the individual design. Each to his own.
