Re: Primark..do you or dont you?
tesco at haslingden and rawtenstall have a sign up that you cant take trolleys past that point .. it locks the wheels so you cant push it ..
When i was up in Grangemouth at christmas and new year .. we were stood waiting for the bus back up home which was close to the asda .. and they have the same system there .. and a woman and her daughter (20 ish spugs knew the family) had been to asda and had quite a lot of shopping and the daughter was pushing the trolley and refused to carry the bags and was determined that the trolley was going to cross the road and take the shopping to the bus stop .. it was quite funny especially in all the snow and ice we had up there .. problem being though the snow and ice on the path helped her but when it came to crossing the road ..and no snow or ice she couldnt push it across the road as the wheels were locked .. so ended up dragging it across the road .. then mum had to lift the trolley up to get it up onto the other side...

The one in Glasgow has always been the same. If they want to cause chaos when shopping in Glasgow the Barra's is the place to do it. Mind you most shopping in Glasgow is easy even at christmas and I enjoy it.

Can you blame the supermarkets trying to keep them ?

For someone who puts himself forward as being on the fringe of Politics and therefore supposedly possesing a modicum of common sense and logical thought processes your above statement is pure bunk, ....... the price we Americans and Canadians pay for imported oil and gas is exactly to same as you and every other oil importing country ....ever heard of OPEC ..... its a multi ethnic group of oil producing countries ......
Saudi Arabia ,Nigeria ,Algeria, Qatar ,United Arab Emirates(UAE), Iraq,
Iran, Angola, Libya, Kuwait, Ecuador and Venezuela
(Arabs from the Gulf, Black Africans from Nigeria and Angola, South Americans from Ecuador and Venezula),
ALL oil importing countries pay the same price at source (with one or two variancies due to differencies in quality) and World refining costs are pretty much the same all over.
Using your logic the British public should only be paying production/refining costs for North sea oil and Gas , so why are your prices so high ? because the British Govt. sells the stuff on the free market at the same World prices as OPEC .
I'm thinking what you meant to say in your posting is that you in the UK would be paying the similar prices to the US and Canada but for the high fuel pump prices imposed by your Govt.
As for us (the US) worrying about the Middle East maybe its time you in the UK took a good hard look in the mirror and faced up to the homegrown threats you in the UK are producing for export .

Very little need for that, matey. We pay more at the pumps than you do and that's all there is to it.
As far as the problems Great Britain has, the voting populace is well aware of them but regrettably no one in power will do anything firm about it for fear of being labelled 'racist'. The vast majority of us know that England is not a very popular place at the moment but there is very little your average man on the street can do about it since we ended up looking like your last President's lapdog.
The only people from your side of the pond I have ever been seen look at their country and laugh at its stupidity are Michael Moore and Rich Hall. In Great Britain, it's the staple of all our comedy acts.

Now your begining to sound like the 5 year old who runs home skrieking (sp?) because the other kid got a bigger dash of raspberry vinegar on his ice cream cone.
Yep , think the medical term for that is penis envy , Heard of Michael Moore ,a bit of a commie pinko liberal, but who is Rich Hall ? never heard of him , not well known here

Re: Primark..do you or dont you?
I'm not quite sure what an American is trying to acheive by posting on an Accrington website but it's entirely typical of you to dive in with an abrasive response without fully understanding the wording presented to you.
I joined this forum to debate local matters with residents from Hyndburn on a civilised level. So far I have discussed topics with intelligent people, the only exception being you, particularly your ludicrous last post.
Please do not involve me in anything further that you have to say on any subject.

He, like many of our overseas members, was born and bred in the area.
Indeed Accy Web was set up by an expat, so he could keep in touch with what was happening here.
Very often what happens here is a new memeber joins, shouts their mouth off, without knowing the facts of a situation, and feathers get ruffled, and egos bruised.
Eventually, they calm down, and are accepted into the fold.
That's what usually happens here. Time after time.

Re: Primark..do you or dont you?
Primark achieved success by selling things very cheaply.
Sadly there's always a price to pay, although they do now say they've cut back on using child slave labour.

I'l apologise if you think I've been shouting my mouth off, that certainly isn't my intention. However, I don't feel that I have done and anyone who comes back at my posts regarding UK petrol prices and the Brits having a laugh at themselves with comments about ice cream 'vinegar' and penis envy is not someone I want to have discussions with.
I take your original point though. Noted.
